JANPAUL GUZMAN is a Patent Attorney in the Electrical, Mechanical and Chemical Engineering Department.
Mr. Guzman’s practice includes patent preparation and prosecution for diverse technologies including mechanical-based inventions and medical devices, preparation and prosecution of U.S. trademark applications. Mr. Guzman expertise includes counseling clients on business development that includes intellectual property protection and commercialization strategies.
Prior to joining Nath, Goldberg & Meyer, Mr. Guzman worked at Litman Law Offices (LLO), an Intellectual Property practice group of an international law firm where his practice focused on client counseling, patent preparation and prosecution, and U.S. trademark prosecution.
Before joining LLO, Mr. Guzman served as in-house counsel for a durable medical equipment company where his practice encompassed negotiating and drafting various agreements, including manufacturing and distribution agreements with foreign companies, trademark licensing agreements, and vendor agreements. He also assisted clients with compliance matters with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and filing 510(k) medical devices clearances with the FDA.
Mr. Guzman received his J.D. degree and LL.M. degree in Intellectual Property Law from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (f/k/a Franklin Pierce Law Center), his M.B.A. degree in Finance from the Nova Southeastern University School of Business, and his B.A. degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Guzman is admitted to practice before the Bar of the District of Columbia and the State of Florida and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Guzman is fluent in Spanish.
